C.W. Cook, CCM, CCE

HOSPITALITY AND CLUB ADVISOR

C.W. started his adult work career serving in the U.S. Air Force in the military club division. With this initial grounding, he left the military and furthered his education by graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University, and a Master’s Degree in Hospitality Administration from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Along the way, C.W. has spent over 20 years managing at some of the finest private clubs in FL, TX, NC, & SC, with the last 7 years of that service being as the General Manager at North Hills Club in Raleigh, NC. C.W. was integral in helping to lead the club through a renaissance and complex construction projects into one of the finest athletic clubs in the country. C.W. is a highly regarded club manager across the country, is a member of the prestigious Club Managers Association of America Honor Society, holds the coveted Certified Club Manager (CCM) & Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designations and was the 2008 National Excellence in Club Management award recipient given by Club & Resort Business magazine & The McMahon Group. C.W. is currently in candidacy for the Master Club Manager (MCM) designation, which is held by less than 20 club managers nationwide. In addition to his club experience, C.W. has also functioned as a national risk management consultant and to date has consulted with over 250 YMCA’s, Camps, & Clubs across the country.

Michael Oostman

CHIEF SAEFTY ADVISOR

Michael Oostman was a nationally ranked competitive swimmer who began lifeguarding in the mid 1980s. This lead to a professional career in aquatic safety consulting that has spanned over two decades. Starting with Jeff Ellis & Associates in 1992, Michael worked to become a Vice President responsible for training and consulting to Walt Disney World, litigation support, accident investigations and international business. Michael left E&A in 2004 and started a private firm specifically focused on accident investigations, litigation support and educational consulting. To date, Michael has performed over 700 drowning and injury related investigations and has been retained in hundreds of lawsuits as an expert witness. Michael brings a pragmatic understanding of the aquatic industry to his teaching, mentoring, counseling and testifying due in large part to his unparalleled experiences of forensic accident investigation and litigation involvement. Michael’s passion and drive is rooted in his desire to inspire, motivate and empower individuals to save lives and prevent drownings.
